Qatar Central Bank(QCB) has issued Qatar’s first licence for an insurance price comparison website, authorising Ammen to provide the regulated service.
QCB announced the approval on July 20. Ammen becomes Qatar’s first authorised operator in this category. Consumers gain one digital route for comparing insurance pricing, coverage options and policy benefits. QCB now supervises 16 fintech companies across Qatar’s regulated financial sector.

One platform compresses insurance searches
Ammen’s licence covers the operation of an online insurance policy price comparison service in Qatar.
Customers can review premiums, coverage options and benefits through a single digital channel. Centralised access reduces the time spent searching separate insurer websites or requesting individual quotations.
Consumers can also narrow their selection before entering the purchase process. Price differences become visible earlier. Coverage variations become easier to identify.
Ammen’s service gives buyers a consistent starting point for evaluating available products. Customers can compare offers using the same search journey rather than navigating different provider systems.
Digital comparison also reduces information gaps during initial policy selection. Buyers receive organised product information before deciding which insurer or policy deserves closer review.
QCB’s authorisation places that comparison activity inside Qatar’s regulated financial services market. Ammen must operate under the central bank’s supervision and control.
Coverage visibility improves policy selection
Insurance buyers often assess premiums first. Coverage limits, benefits and policy conditions determine the financial protection delivered after purchase.
Ammen’s comparison service places pricing beside coverage information. Consumers can evaluate the premium against the benefits attached to each policy.
A lower quotation does not automatically deliver broader protection. Clear product comparisons help customers identify differences between offers carrying similar headline prices.
Buyers can use those differences to screen policies according to personal requirements and budget limits. Families, individuals and businesses gain a faster route for identifying suitable options.
Consistent presentation also limits confusion created by different insurer terminology and sales processes. Customers can review comparable information through one interface before completing further checks.
QCB expects insurance comparison services to increase transparency by giving customers access to product and pricing information through a regulated channel.
Consumers retain responsibility for reviewing policy documents before purchase. Ammen’s service provides an earlier comparison point within that decision process.

Regulatory oversight strengthens customer confidence
QCB supervision gives Ammen clear regulatory status within Qatar’s financial technology sector.
Customers can identify the platform as an authorised provider rather than an unregulated information website. That distinction carries weight when users share personal details or request insurance quotations online.
QCB’s approval also establishes formal oversight for a service that connects consumers with insurance pricing information. Regulatory control creates a defined operating boundary for Ammen’s activities.
Ammen becomes the sixteenth fintech company operating under QCB supervision. Qatar’s regulated fintech portfolio includes companies serving different parts of the financial services market.
QCB has positioned digital financial services as a route for expanding customer access and simplifying transactions. Insurance comparison adds another consumer-facing service to that regulated portfolio.
Qatar’s first licence also gives insurers a supervised distribution channel for presenting products to digitally active customers. Consumers receive faster access without removing regulatory control from the transaction chain.
Visible offers sharpen insurer competition
QCB expects the comparison service to increase transparency and competition across Qatar’s insurance market.
A consolidated channel exposes price and coverage differences at the point of selection. Insurers gain clearer visibility against competing products presented through the same customer journey.
Consumers gain stronger negotiating information. Buyers can identify whether a premium delivers competitive coverage before proceeding with an insurer.
Visible comparisons also increase pressure on providers to present policy terms clearly. Complex product descriptions carry less commercial value when customers can review alternative offers within the same service.
QCB’s announcement did not disclose Ammen’s launch date, participating insurers or initial policy categories. Those details will determine the platform’s early selection range.
Consumer utility depends on broad insurer participation and consistent policy information. More participating providers increase quotation breadth. Standardised product fields improve the accuracy of comparisons.
Qatar’s first insurance comparison licence creates the regulated foundation for that service. Ammen’s approval gives consumers a clearer, faster route through the insurance selection process.
