Highlights

Qatar Airways presents the world’s shortest bookable flights using the widebody Airbus A350.
The flight will connect Doha and Bahrain, covering a mere 80 kilometres each way.

Qatar Airways is all set to introduce a quick flight from its Hamad International Airport hub to Bahrain International Airport, covering approximately 80 nautical miles (148 km) across the Persian Gulf. The popular airline will operate the flight on August 12 and 13, effectively making it the world’s shortest bookable Airbus A350 flight in 2026. The airline will only be operating one flight between Doha and Bahrain on these two days, instead of its usual three flights a day.

Designed for long-haul routes that can stretch well beyond 15 to 16 hours, the A350-900 in Qatar Airways’ fleet seats 283 passengers across business and economy class. According to a report on Simple Flying, the airline generally operates its narrowbody Airbus A320ceo aircraft on the route, on multiple daily rotations. However, due to a period of schedule adjustments, Qatar Airways is temporarily substituting the widebody A350 in place of the smaller aircraft.

Using the widebody lets the airline manage its capacity and aircraft positioning during a period of schedule adjustments. Widebody aircraft on busy routes make sense when the network needs to move large numbers of connecting passengers quickly and efficiently.

Here’s a quick look at the schedule that the Airbus A350 will follow on August 12 and 13, connecting Doha and Bahrain:

Flight QR1102 will depart from Hamad International Airport at 1 pm and land at Bahrain International Airport at 1:55 pm.
Return flight QR11093 will depart Bahrain International Airport at 3:25 pm and land at Hamad International Airport at 4:20 pm.
