Qatar Airways has cancelled scheduled flights that were supposed to fly between Hamad International Airport in Doha and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, in Jakarta. The cancellations were caused by volcanic ash coming from Mount Anak Krakatau. Qatar Airways Cancels Flights
The Doha-based carrier cancelled flights including QR954, QR955, QR956, and QR957 as Indonesian transport authorities temporarily suspended operations at eight airports, including Jakarta’s primary international hub, due to drifting ash plumes. Volcanic ash clouds from the eruption reached altitudes of up to 50,000 feet, creating hazardous flying conditions, reducing visibility, and posing severe contamination risks to jet engines.
Qatar Airways advised all passengers traveling on affected routes to check their flight status prior to departing for the airport and confirmed that customer safety remains its top priority. The disruptions in Jakarta have affected over 170,000 international and domestic travelers, with Gulf peers including Emirates and Etihad Airways also issuing delays and cancellations while monitoring regional airspace conditions.
