Qatar’s total FDI reached 3.4 billion US dollars in 2025, with new projects increasing by 52% year on year
The Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar released its 2025 annual report, showing that the country attracted 373 foreign direct investment projects throughout the year, with capital expenditure reaching 3.4 billion US dollars and more than 15,000 new jobs created. Qatar completes trial operation of electric self-driving taxis
The Ministry of Transport (MOT) of Qatar supervised Qatar’s national transport company Mowasalat/Karwa to complete the trial operation of electric self-driving taxis, with vehicles shuttling between the MOT headquarters and Doha Old Port. The first phase of the project, launched in August 2025, has completed 2500 trips with a trial operation success rate of 94%. In the second phase, remote-controlled taxis without safety operators will be gradually deployed on three approved routes. The Ministry of Transport stated that this project is in line with the autonomous vehicle strategy formulated by the Ministry, aiming to introduce advanced intelligent and environmentally friendly technologies into the public transport system.
Qatar’s residential mortgage transaction volume reached 3.56 billion US dollars in the first quarter
